✎

A Knives Out name style is a player name for the battle-royale game Knives Out, written with a short team tag and a divider — 影│Ronin, 侍│sᴇɴsᴇɪ — or in the bold squared letters the game’s name lists are full of, like 🆂🅴🅽🆂🅴🅸. Copy one of the 97 names and marks below, or type your own into the box above. One thing worth knowing first: there are two kinds of squared letters, and only the dark filled ones keep their look when text is normalised.

Names generated with the tool above; styles checked against Unicode 9.0.0 data on . This page is about the game, not the film. NameStylish is independent and not affiliated with NetEase or Knives Out.

Team tag names

A lot of popular Knives Out names start with a team tag — often two kanji or a few capital letters — then a divider, then the player. The divider is usually │, a line-drawing character (U+2502), or the bullet •. The tags here are made up; the kanji mean black wolf (黒狼), shadow (影), zero (零), samurai (侍), cherry blossom (桜) and moon (月).

Squared letters: which kind to use

Squared letters look alike but come in two Unicode families, and they behave differently once a system normalises text — the step many apps use to compare or search names. We put the word SENSEI through five of the generator’s block-letter styles:

Two rows of blank square tiles, one row solid black and one row white with black outlines, under a banner saying dark squares stay and outlined squares turn back
Filled and outlined squared letters look like one style, but only one survives normalisation.
SENSEI in five block-letter styles from the generator, counted and normalised (NFKC, Unicode 9.0.0 data) on 13 September 2026.
Style Looks like Characters UTF-16 units After NFKC
Square 🆂🅴🅽🆂🅴🅸 6 12 Keeps its look
Square border 🅂🄴🄽🅂🄴🄸 6 12 Turns back into plain letters
Circle ⓈⒺⓃⓈⒺⒾ 6 6 Turns back into plain letters
Wide font SENSEI 6 6 Turns back into plain letters
Mixture 🇸🇪🇳🇸🇪🇮 6 12 Keeps its look — but pairs of letters can show as flags

So the dark squares (🅺) are the durable choice, and the outlined ones (🄺) are the ones most likely to come back as plain capitals. Both cost two UTF-16 units per letter, the same as an emoji. The Mixture style is a trap of its own: it uses regional indicator letters, and pairs of those are drawn as flags — the SE at the start of SENSEI can show as Sweden’s flag. Why normalisation exists at all is explained in what a fancy font really is.

Squared-letter names

Mostly the dark style, with a few outlined ones for comparison. Add ミ★ ★彡 or ☂︎ for the look that is common on Knives Out name lists.

Names in other styles

Blackletter, monospace, script and small letters, finished with a blade strip, a scope mark ⌖ or a katakana tail such as ツ or ダ.

Emoji names

An emoji and a word — a target for a sniper, a parachute for a drop. For more gamer names in this vein, see hacker and gamer name styles.

About name colours

What we have not verified: “knives out name color” is a common search, and colour codes circulate on public name lists. We have not been able to test them inside the game, so this page does not publish any. Everything above is plain Unicode text and shows in the game’s normal name colour. If a name will not save, the usual reasons are covered in why a game rejects your stylish name.

FAQ

How do I make a stylish name for Knives Out?

Type your name into the box at the top of this page, pick a style and copy it, or copy one of the ready-made names below. The most common Knives Out look is a short team tag, a divider like │ or •, and then the name — for example 影│Ronin.

What is the │ line in Knives Out names?

It is BOX DRAWINGS LIGHT VERTICAL, U+2502, a line-drawing character rather than the keyboard pipe |. Players use it to split a team tag from the name; the bullet • does the same job with a lighter look.

Why do some squared letters turn back into normal letters?

There are two kinds. The outlined squared letters (🄺) carry a Unicode compatibility mapping to the plain letter, so text normalisation turns 🅂🄴🄽🅂🄴🄸 into SENSEI. The dark filled ones (🅺) have no such mapping and keep their look.

Can I change my name colour in Knives Out?

Many people search for it and colour codes circulate on public name lists, but we have not been able to test them in the game, so we do not publish any. Everything on this page is plain Unicode text, which shows in the game’s normal name colour.

Why does my squared name show flags?

The Mixture style uses regional indicator letters, and a phone turns certain pairs of them into national flags — the S and E at the start of SENSEI can appear as the flag of Sweden. Use the dark squared style instead if you want letters.
